Extended eyelashes: pros and cons, how long they last, care, makeup, correction, removal. A photo

Fluffy eyelashes adorn the feminine look, make it expressive and romantic. Some girls, whose eyelashes by nature are not long enough or thick enough, have to either dream of beautiful eyelashes or resort to extension services. The extended hairs do not last long, but give a beautiful open-eyed effect.

Benefits of the procedure

Girls and women who already have eyelash extensions note several advantages of eyelash extensions:

  1. Long eyelashes transform the look, make it expressive, feminine. Thick bright eyelashes accentuate the eye shape, set off the color of the iris.
  2. The extension procedure allows you to find long eyelashes in a short time. The duration of the procedure is up to 3 hours, while your eyelashes have to grow at least 3 weeks, periodically applying masks, serums and compresses to the hairs.
  3. Unlike false eyelashes, extended eyelashes do not last for a day, but for about 2-3 months.
  4. After extension, lashes look perfect without makeup, this saves time in the morning.
  5. By choosing a certain extension option, for example, lengthening the eyelashes at the outer corners of the eye, you can correct the shape of the eyes, as well as visually reduce or increase their size.
  6. The client has the opportunity to choose what effect he wants to achieve: natural - extended eyelashes will look like natural, but thick eyelashes, or dramatic, when eyelashes look unnatural, but emphatically feminine, sexy.
  7. Extended eyelashes do not require not only makeup, but also curling. The hairs already have a bend and retain it until the end of the wear.

Extended eyelashes do the best job with their natural function, that is, they protect the eyes from dust and sunlight.

Minuses

The disadvantages of the procedure are determined by the need to follow the recommendations for care and lifestyle after building up:

  1. Eyelashes are hypoallergenic, but the material on which they are glued contains aggressive components. Because of this, a negative reaction is possible, expressed in allergies.
  2. It will take some time to get used to the eyelash extensions. From habit, they can cause discomfort. For example, you can't rub your eyes.
  3. Make-up remover and shampooing should be performed in a special way, avoiding contact between water and eyelashes.
  4. You need to sleep in such a position so that the eyelashes do not come into contact with the pillow.
  5. You should limit the use of moisturizing care products, as this significantly reduces the wear period of eyelash extensions. The same goes for girls who wear contact lenses. Daily lens manipulation will shorten the duration of the artificial hair wears.
  6. It is not recommended to visit the bath and sauna, as the hot air causes the hairs to peel off, softening the glue. A strict ban - the first days after building, when the glue has not yet hardened enough.
  7. People who are prone to allergies may develop an allergic reaction to adhesive or natural hair.
  8. You need to swim in a pool or pond with caution, avoiding getting water on your face, namely on your eyelashes. Salt water, as well as water with bleach, will shorten the wear lifedissolving glue. There is a chance that after two days the eyelashes will come off.
  9. The augmentation and correction of the procedure is relatively expensive. Despite the fact that you do not need to dye your eyelashes, you will not be able to save money by abandoning cosmetics.
  10. Relatively frequent correction is required.

Harm

If natural eyelashes are thin and sparse, a large amount of extension material can damage them. Natural hair will fall out or break off under stress. Even in the presence of normal eyelashes, permanent extension can disrupt their condition, especially if recommendations are not followed or poor-quality components are used.

To minimize the harm from building up, you should take a break between procedures for one and a half to two months, and additionally apply nourishing masks to the eyelashes.

Contraindications

There are limitations to eyelash extension:

  • individual intolerance to the materials used for building;
  • an inflammatory eye disease, for example, blepharitis or conjunctivitis (the build-up aggravates the course of these diseases);
  • hormonal disbalance;
  • critical days;
  • dry or oily skin of the eyelids;
  • weak, thin, brittle eyelashes.

Washing

When washing your face, it is necessary to avoid getting lather on the area around the eyes. For convenience, it is recommended to use a sponge or sponge. It is necessary to wash your hair by throwing it back so that water and shampoo do not get into your eyes.

Extension procedure

The building procedure is performed in the following order:

  1. First, the length and thickness of the eyelashes is selected. The master should discuss the options with the client in detail, talk about their advantages and disadvantages, choose the color, structure, shape of the hairs.
  2. Then make-up is necessarily removed, the skin of the eyelids is degreased.
  3. A sticker must be placed under the eyelashes, which protects against fumes and the ingress of adhesive on the mucous membrane.
  4. The master grabs the artificial eyelashes with tweezers and glues them to the base of the natural ones.
  5. This is how each cilium is worked out, the process takes a long time - 2-3 hours.

With the correct procedure, the eyelashes look natural.

How long lasts

Natural eyelashes have their own life cycle and fall out over time. The extended eyelashes will fall out with them too. In a normal state, natural eyelashes fall out after about 3 months, but due to the fact that artificial hairs are attached to them, they last for a shorter period.

The extended eyelashes last for an average of 2.5 months, but after a month, correction is required. Gradually, the entire volume of the eyelashes will change.

Features of care on the first day

In the first 24 hours after extension, it is important to follow the rules for the regime and care of eyelashes:

  1. Avoid moisture and water ingress, as the glue dries completely in a day and loses its properties if moisture gets on it. As a result, the eyelashes simply come off.
  2. Do not use steam baths for your face.
  3. You shouldn't touch your eyelashes.
  4. Sleeping is allowed only on the side or on the back so that the eyelashes are not injured on the pillow.

Care Tips

  1. To cleanse the area around the eyes, it is recommended to proceed carefully, and if necessary, use cotton swabs to treat the area around the eyelashes.
  2. The extended eyelashes need to be combed. For this purpose, you can use a clean mascara brush, a toothbrush or a special brush designed for combing eyelashes. The procedure can only be performed on dry eyelashes.
  3. Curling your eyelashes is not recommended as it leads to breakage.
  4. To remove cosmetics, you need to use products that do not contain fat.
  5. Special mascara is needed for dyeing eyelash extensions.
  6. Self-removal of eyelashes is not recommended. It is better to wait until they fall out on their own or contact the master.

Is it possible to use decorative cosmetics

Extension experts believe that mascara has a negative effect on the glue and can lead to premature loss of natural eyelashes, as it significantly weighs them down. However, if necessary, mascara can be applied, but after wearing it must be very carefully removed with a product that does not contain alcohol or oil.

The video shows how to properly wash off cosmetics from eyelash extensions:

It is forbidden to use waterproof mascara, as it is much more difficult to wash it off.

Correction

Extended lashes stay unchanged for about three weeks, but eventually peel off and break off. They fall out together with the natural eyelash, to which they are glued, due to the natural physiological process of eyelash change. Therefore, a correction is required - a procedure that restores a number of eyelash extensions.

This procedure is practically no different from the initial build-up.

Thickness and length of eyelashes

To create a natural effect, masters combine eyelashes of different length and thickness. For example, to achieve a special depth of gaze, long hairs are glued to the upper eyelid, closer to the outer corner. Medium short hairs look best in the middle region of the eyelid and closer to the inner corner.

Material

Hair extensions are completely synthetic, as animal materials can cause an allergic reaction. However, the names of various types of materials are associated with animals. But this only determines the thickness and appearance of the hairs.

For instance, the diameter of "silk" eyelashes is 0.2 mm, "mink" - 0.15 mm, hairs called "sable" are the thinnest, their diameter is 0.1 mm. But the diameter and stiffness of the hairs do not depend on each other. Lashes called silk look the most natural.

"Mink" has a more intense color and has a characteristic shine. Sable lashes are thin, but firm and shiny. It is recommended to use them for special occasions, as they are uncomfortable in everyday wear.

Eyelash length

Extended lashes last longer if they are short. But it is chosen based on considerations of convenience and the purpose of building. If the extension is done for a photo shoot or any event, you can choose long eyelashes. They are up to 20 mm long. If you plan to wear everyday, it is better to limit yourself to a length of 8 to 14 mm.

To find the most suitable length, it is recommended to measure the length of your own eyelash when it falls out, and choose the same artificial one + 2-3 mm.

Eyelash curl

So that the eyelashes do not need to curl, which contributes to their breaking off and peeling off, you need to select the required curl of the eyelashes in advance. It will last for the entire period of wear.

The degree of bending is indicated by letters:

  • B - no bending, straight hair.
  • J or L - natural curve starting in the last third of the lashes. So you can visually correct the overhanging eyelid.
  • C - Stronger bend starting at half a hair. The look looks more open.
  • CC / B or D - are used to correct the direction of growth of their own eyelashes.

Colour

To create a natural effect, it is recommended to choose a color as close as possible to the color of natural eyelashes or slightly darker. However, you can choose colored eyelashes, as well as decorate them with rhinestones, small feathers.

Extension glue

There are two types of glue used for eyelash extensions: resin glue and liquid glue. Resin-based glue, which makes it possible to fix the eyelash due to slow drying, is recommended for beginners, but it can cause an allergic reaction. Liquid glue dries instantly, is applied in a thin layer, but it is no longer possible to fix the eyelashes.

Extended eyelashes: how long the hairs last after the procedure depends not only on the experience of the master, but also on the quality of the material

The color of the glue can be transparent, black, white (when dry it becomes transparent).

The main component is distinguished:

  1. Resin glue - increases the duration of wear, waterproof, comfortable to use, but allergenic.
  2. Latex glue - holds eyelashes well, but hardens for a long time and can cause allergies.
  3. Silicone - hypoallergenic, resistant, but only suitable for beam extensions.
  4. Rubber - available in different colors, including black. Firmly fixes eyelashes and at the same time rarely causes allergies.

Extension techniques

Extended eyelashes last as long as technology allows. AND when extending eyelashes, two technologies are used: eyelash and beam. The first technique is called Japanese, the second - Hollywood.

The bundle can consist of 3-5 artificial hairs, and each bundle is glued to one eyelash.

Beam extension significantly increases the density of eyelashes. The downside is the need for frequent correction, since after the eyelashes fall out, a noticeable bald patch forms, and the condition of natural eyelashes worsens, since they are under significant stress.

Eyelash extension allows you to achieve a natural result. You can extend eyelashes partially, only in the corners of the eyes, or completely. Full build-up gives the maximum natural effect. If desired, you can make extensions not on each eyelash, but at regular intervals.

3D extension is an extension with hairs of different lengths and thicknesses: two hairs, differing in length and thickness, are fixed on their own eyelashes.

Eyelash extension effect

Distinguish the classification according to the effect that results from building up:

  1. Natural assumes the most accurate selection of eyelashes in length and color in comparison with natural ones. As a result, the extensions are almost indistinguishable from real eyelashes.
  2. The fox effect gives a build-up on the outer corners of the eyes: the cut of the eyes visually acquires a more elongated shape, a cunning squint.
  3. The puppet effect is obtained by extending the eyelashes in a circle, both above and below, with approximately equal hairs in length.

Which technique is better

It is impossible to say unequivocally which technique is better, since each choice depends on the purpose of building up: for everyday life or for a celebration.

Allergy

The adhesive may cause an allergic reaction. To prevent the development of a serious allergy, it is recommended to first glue a few eyelashes and check if there are any negative reactions: inflammation, itching, redness. If any of the above has been noticed, then you cannot resort to the extension procedure.

How to remove eyelashes yourself

Despite the fact that the masters do not recommend removing eyelashes on their own, this can be done if you apply vegetable oil overnight to the areas where the glue is applied. The extended eyelashes will not hold on after such a procedure and should crumble in the morning, which will become especially noticeable with regular washing.

Extended eyelashes: pros and cons, how long they last, care, makeup, correction, removal. A photo

But if the glue has not dissolved and the eyelashes remain in place, no other manipulations can be made.

In this case, it is recommended to contact the master who carried out the extension. After removing the eyelashes, you need to strengthen them with castor oil, which is applied to your own hairs at night. It makes them shiny and accelerates growth.

The eyelash extension procedure involves adherence to the rules of care and imposes restrictions on the way of life. However, the effect that is observed as a result is liked by many, which explains the popularity of this procedure. Girls are not stopped by the fact that eyelashes last for a relatively short time and require frequent correction.
