Hair coloring with tonic does not always give the desired shade, especially on light strands. However, the resulting color can be quickly washed off with such proven products as professional washes, shampoos, masks, and other methods at home.
How quickly tint products are washed off
Tonics are gentle dyes, unlike hair dyes. They do not contain ammonia, therefore they do not penetrate deeply into the structure of the curls, covering them only with a light film, which collapses over time. In general, the tonic stays on the strands for 2-4 weeks.

The volume of each bottle is 120 ml, which, according to the instructions, with an average length of curls, is enough for 6 pickling procedures. The cost of the set is 380 rubles.
Mode of application:
- mix 20 ml of reducing agent and catalyst;
- apply the product with a brush first to the ends, about 10 cm;
- comb the strands so that the composition is evenly distributed, leave for 20 minutes;
- remove the wash with a paper towel;
- repeat the procedure: mix bottle 1 and 2, apply to the curls, gradually moving towards the roots (as a result, you will get 5-6 washes);
- rinse hair with hot water, apply a neutralizer, leave for 3 minutes. (it is better to do this first on one strand: if it does not darken, then you can use bottle 3 all over the head, otherwise, you need to repeat the pickling procedure);
- rinse your head with hot water using a deep cleaning shampoo;
- restore hair with a moisturizing mask or balm.
Result: complete washing out of the coloring pigment, lightening the original shade by 5 tones. Re-staining the curls is possible after 40 minutes. after using a neutralizing agent.
Please note that if the hair darkens again in the morning or after a few days, this means that the pigment was not completely washed out and the washing procedure needs to be done again.
Kapous decoxon 2faze
Kapous Decoxon 2Faze helps to correct unwanted hair color, acts carefully, removing artificial pigment and without damaging the strands, while the product does not lighten the curls, but corrects their color without affecting the natural tone. How to quickly rinse hair tonic with Kapous Decoxon:
- mix both phases in equal amounts with the volume necessary for processing the strands (it is not allowed to mix the entire amount of funds at once, the product should not be idle);
- apply the resulting mass to dry, unwashed, curls with a brush, without touching the roots, comb the strands for better distribution of the wash;
- wrap hair with foil and warm it up with a hairdryer (5 min.);
- leave the product for 20 minutes;

Further actions depend on the result obtained:
- if the paint has washed off, then it is necessary to use any oxidizing agent (neutralizer) - apply it on wet curls, massage them, leave the product for 3 minutes, rinse with shampoo;
- if the strands still have an artificial shade, then it is recommended to repeat the pickling procedure - rinse your head with a detergent, dry your hair and repeat all the steps described above, then apply an oxidizing agent and rinse it off with shampoo.
Please note that you cannot use balms or masks between pickling procedures!
Washing can be done up to three times during the day. Result: Kapous Decoxon removes 2-3 tones. Repeated hair coloring is allowed 36 hours after the pickling procedure.
L'Oreal Professionnel
Efassor by L'Oreal Professionnel is a product for flushing artificial tones from hair, sold as a powder, packed in an opaque small bag, which is enough for short hair. The cost of 1 package is 150 rubles.
Instructions for use:
- dilute 28 g of powder (1 sachet) with 60 ml of hot boiled water in a non-metallic container, mix well and foam;
- apply the resulting mass on the strands with a sponge, as if wiping the dye from the hair;
- leave the agent to act for 20 minutes;
- rinse your head with hot water.
Also, after the washing procedure, it is recommended to apply any 1.5% oxidizer to the curls for 5 minutes, then rinse your head with detergent. Result: the coloring pigment is completely washed out. Repainting hair is possible the next day after pickling.
Color System Brelil
Color System Brelil is a hair-free hair pigment remover that removes unwanted pigment from strands. The product contains no synthetic additives, therefore, after using it, the curls do not dry out and retain a healthy shine.
The Brelil wash ensures that 2-3 tones of the cosmetic shade are washed off without disturbing the natural pigment. The set consists of two bottles, each with a volume of 125 ml. The cost of the set is 1200 rubles.
Instructions for use:
- mix in a 1: 1 ratio the product from bottle 1 and bottle 2 in a non-metallic container;
- apply the product to clean, dry strands, including the root zone, insulate with a film and leave to act for 20 minutes;
- rinse with warm water;
- dry your hair with a hairdryer;
- if necessary, repeat all steps to obtain a more pronounced result.
The hair after the procedure remains soft, however, the color is not washed out strongly enough. After the pickling procedure, the curls can be painted the next day.
Homemade recipes for toner remover
You can wash off the tonic from your hair quickly and without harm to the strands with homemade products. The most effective are: washing the head with shampoo, using alcohol (70%), cosmetic oils, baking soda, cosmetic clay, masks based on kefir, etc.
Shampoo
Frequent shampooing will help get rid of unwanted color. At the same time, it is recommended to choose a detergent for oily strands or for dandruff, since these products contain substances that help wash out the artificial pigment.
Ordinary laundry soap will also help get rid of the tonic, but after it the curls will become dry and brittle, so this remedy is recommended to be combined with moisturizing balms or masks.
Please note that you do not need to just wash your hair without stopping. You need to rinse it with subsequent drying throughout the day until you get the desired result.
Alcohol (70%)
Alcohol (70%) combined with natural oil (olive, flax, almonds) will help remove the toner. An equal amount of ingredients are combined, each strand is smeared with the resulting mass. Do not use alcohol mass in the root zone, as you can get a scalp burn.
For exposure, the mask is kept for no more than 5 minutes, then washed off with ordinary shampoo. If the strands become dry, then it is recommended to moisturize them with balm.
Cosmetic oils
Cosmetic oils draw out artificial pigment, lightening curls by several tones. However, it is quite difficult to rinse the oil mask the first time, so it is recommended to do it in the evening.
Any oil - burdock, olive, apricot - slightly warm up and saturate the curls with it, including the root zone. Leave to act for 1-1.5 hours. It is better to wash off the product with infusions based on nettle, oak bark or chamomile flowers. The oily sheen will also help neutralize the lemon rinse.

Baking soda

Soda remover is not suitable for dry curls, as it has drying properties. Also, experts do not recommend using it too often, so as not to spoil the strands.
There are several ways to use this product as a wash:
- dissolve 50 g of soda in 1 liter of water, rinse the curls with the resulting solution after shampooing;
- mix 5 tbsp. l. substances with 1 liter of water, apply on strands, wrap your head in a towel, leave the product for 40 minutes, then rinse everything;
- Mix 100 g of soda with 1 tbsp. l. salt and dissolve in 150 g of water, apply the mixture to dry strands, wrap your head, leave the product for 30 minutes, rinse without using shampoo.
Kefir
Kefir or fermented baked milk destroy the artificial pigment due to its acidic environment.
You can use this product as follows:
- Warm the fermented milk drink to 40 degrees, soak the curls with it, create a thermal effect by wrapping them with a film and a towel. After 2 hours, wash off using shampoo.
- Mix kefir (800 ml) with 1 tsp. any vegetable-based oil, 1 tsp. water, 1 tsp. salt. Lubricate the strands with the resulting mass, wrap your head with a thick towel for 2 hours. Wash off the product with shampoo.
- Combine 400 ml of fermented milk drink with 3 tsp.alcohol and 2 tsp. soda. Warm up the mixture and saturate the hair with it. Create a thermal effect, rinse with shampoo after 1-1.5 hours.
Kefir (fermented baked milk) will not help to achieve a quick result. To get a pronounced effect, the mask should be done daily for 1-2 weeks.
Cosmetic clay
Cosmetic clay is also considered a good remedy for helping to remove unwanted pigment. Any clay (white, blue, pink) is suitable for these purposes, but it is preferable to choose black.
Method of application: dilute the clay with water to a state of sour cream (the mass should not drain from the curls), apply on the strands for 40 minutes, then rinse your head with shampoo. Since the mask dries the hair, it is recommended to use it no more than 1 r / week.
Lemon wash
Lemon is known for its brightening properties, which is why professionals recommend this product as a wash:
- Combine 30 g of juice of the main component with 4 tbsp. l. honey and bring to a homogeneous consistency, soak the curls with the mass, wrap the head with a towel, leave to act for 2 hours;
- mix lemon juice and burdock oil in the same volume, smear hair, create a heat effect, leave to act for 2 hours.

White henna

- Mix a bag of henna with an egg and dilute with a fermented milk drink until sour cream. Use the product on damp hair to create a thermal effect (thick towel), leave to act for 2–2.5 hours. Wash off the mask with an infusion based on chamomile flowers.

Recipe: 2 tbsp. l. dry flowers brew 300 ml of boiling water, insist in a thermos for 4 hours. Rub the resulting broth into clean curls daily or rinse the strands with it after shampooing. For best results, this herb can be combined with nettle: mix 30 g of dry plants, pour boiling water (300 ml), let it brew. Strain and rinse your head after shampooing.
By themselves, herbal decoctions will wash off the paint for quite a long time, so they are recommended to be used together with other methods of removing artificial tone from curls.
