Excessive PSV
It is possible to determine that someone from the environment has such a bad trait by the following signs:
- the individual imposes his point of view on everyone, while acting as a mentor;
- too many issues are resolved by dispute, aggressive defense of one's point of view;
- attracting everyone's attention to your own person, the desire to always be in the center of attention, sometimes at any cost;
- vindictiveness as a bright character trait. The desire to avenge criticism, even if it was fair;
- close attention to the mistakes of others, the desire to rise, humiliating others.
Fortunately, in real life there are not so many such characters, which cannot be said about the virtual. In an environment where it is easy to hide behind a bright nickname, all the worst inclinations are visible through a magnifying prism. The largest number of people with an overestimated sense of greatness is observed among well-known media personalities.
They are so addicted to the role they play in public that they carry this communication style into everyday life. At the same time, there are cases when it is necessary to prove one's own significance according to the role that a person occupies in society.
The HSP is not overestimated for the following categories:
- people of dangerous professions, for example, the military, live by their own "laws". If a person with a higher rank requires unquestioning obedience, his behavior is dictated by the observance of subordination and order, on which discipline is based;

A person needs relaxation after unfounded criticism, any active action, even a torn sheet of paper. The main thing is not to get lost on living people.
It is easiest to ignore, not taking the remarks to heart, but this is not a constructive path and a direct opportunity to lose the relationship with the person.
The correct response to a stinging remark depends on the fairness of the accusation:
- in case of complete confidence in the groundlessness of the accusation, a counter question should be asked, on what exactly the accusation is based. The tone of the question should be extremely benevolent, you should not be malicious and in no case insult in response. This form of communication can become a constructive continuation of the conversation, of course, if the opponent is determined to continue the conversation;
- if there is a possibility that by his actions a person who was subjected to such criticism could provoke it himself, you need to partially agree, trying to reduce the conversation to a harmless joke, for example, by praising the opponent's observation;
- if a person is clearly not disposed to a friendly continuation of the conversation, the response phrases should not contain anything superfluous. You cannot give your opponent grounds for continuing criticism, there should only be a friendly response. Phrases should be short no more than 5 words, there should be no expressions like "Yes ... but", because such a construction is perceived as a negation and gives rise to the continuation of the conflict.
Any conflict has a positive constructive side. There is an opportunity to look at yourself with someone else's eyes. If it is likely that the accusations are not groundless, it makes sense to reconsider your priorities. Not so often, but it happens that a person who has indicated a flaw wants only good.
How to curb your sense of self-importance
Seeing yourself “from the outside” is always beneficial, and responding to constructive criticism means walking the path of improvement.
You can overcome a bad trait by taking several consecutive steps:

- it is necessary to analyze recent conflict situations from the point of view of the fairness of the busy point of view;

To achieve harmony, the following steps are suitable:
- in disputes where a person is obviously more knowledgeable, you need to defend your point of view, this will benefit everyone.A person with an underestimated PSV acquires the confidence he lacks in himself and his own knowledge. And the rest of the parties to the dispute receive valuable information from a loved one;
- it is necessary to stop the obviously presumptuous debaters. Swallowing resentment is detrimental to the health and reputation of an insecure person;
- do not be ashamed to support your words, referring to trusted sources, if you are not sure that the speaker's words will be heeded. You can argue with a concurrent point of view with respected mutual acquaintances;
- praise is a good reason to make amends. Don't hide when your boss praises. Modesty is good in moderation, like the rest of the traits;
- it is necessary to learn to ignore caustic remarks, especially when they are addressed only with the purpose of unbalancing.
At the moment when PSV returns to normal, no longer harms others and does not drive an insecure person into a rigid framework, a lot of energy is released. There is a good prerequisite for a breakthrough in self-development and achievement of the set goals.
